GENERAL HISTORYWhen in 1946, in the monastery church in Pilica, a parish was founded, the parishioners of the far-flung villages had to travel over 7 kilometers to the church. This was the reason why on the initiative of the parish first rector, father Feliks Wójcik, a church was built under the name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the border of two villages: Dzwonowice and Sierbowice. Architect Mieczysław Śliwiński was the author of the church project in the Podhalański style. The church was consecrated by Czesław Kaczmarek, Bishop of Kielce, on August 8 th, 1948 In the next year a presbytery was built, followed by a construction of a bell-tower in 1959 and a chapel, sakrysty, and rosary chapels on the church cemetery. During years 1960-61 a cemetery was founded. The Franciscan church was consecrated by Bishop Jan Jaroszewicz of Kielce. Father Feliks Wójcik founded a youth wind orchestra in a parish. The orchestra now performs in a voluntary fire brigade. In 1990 an independent parish was founded and three years later an order of Friars Minor of the Province of Our Lady of the Angels in Poland. In 1994 father Ireneusz Wawryszczuk was chosen a new Rector and Superior of the Order. | |
